What Foundation and Waterproofing Challenges Affect Armour Hills?

Armour Hills was laid out in the 1920s and 30s as one of the Brookside area's showpieces, and its Tudor and Storybook homes still command a premium. Those brick-and-tile houses are heavy, and they sit on foundations now approaching a century of service on Kansas City's most demanding soil.

The demand comes from the side. Wymore-Ladoga clay swells with moisture and presses laterally against a basement wall, and over decades that steady push deflects the wall inward — a slow inward bow that in Armour Hills is the classic threat to an otherwise pristine home.
